Mark Zuckerberg just announced Facebook will be changing the way users interact with their Newsfeed.
"...you'll see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media"
The intent is that as a member of Facebook you'll reconnect with your friends and family instead of watching silly Buzzfeed videos and seeing sponsored posts. Businesses and Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) alike are in an uproar as Zuckerberg seems to abruptly change the format every few months ultimately changing our budget dynamics.
First he claimed he did not want to sell out the Facebook experience by selling ads only to follow with an option for sponsored posts (ads) via Pages with "target audiences" in mind. Then came boosted posts where your Page must pay just so your own followers could see your content despite already liking your Page. Now that he's cashed in on all the sponsored and boosted material by the thousands he's playing the good guy and cutting out ads again. Smart guy.
